Wise Men Still Seek Him
(Matthew 2:1-23)
I. Wise men seek Him in the pages of the Book
vs. 6,15, and 23.
A. The Bible is all about Jesus Christ
(John 1:1-4;14).
B. It is all about His purpose
(Romans 8:28; John 10:10).
I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly!
C. It is all about His will or plan or His will
( Proverbs 16:8; 19:21; Matthew 26: 44).
A man’s heart plans his own way, but the Lord directs his steps. There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel, that will stand.
And he left them and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
II. Wise men seek His divine presence. Where is He that is born, King of the Jews (vs. 2)?
A. Worship. You cannot truly worship Him without an experience of His presence.
1. Worship involves emotional connection with God (Hebrews 4:14-16)
Seeing then that we have an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy & find grace to help in time of need.
2. Worship involves giving something to God. Your time, talent, treasure, your love.
B. Fellowship. You cannot truly fellowship with Him without “one another.”
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you that your joy may be full. This then is the message we have heard of Him, and declare unto you that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all unrighteousness
( 1 John 1:3-7).
III. Wise men respect His divine providence.
And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way
(Matthew 2:12).
And when they departed behold the angel of threw Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream , saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him
(Matthew 2:13).
