How to Put the Rock Between You and the Hard Place
(Exodus 33:12-23)
I. Moses hard place was the very place that God had led him
(vs. 12, Dt. 8:2 and Mat. 4:4).
And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
(Deuteronomy 8:2).
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil
II. Keys to trusting God in great adversities.
A. God alone must become your rock
(Psalms 70:3; Isaiah 44:8)!
Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me for thou art my rock and my fortress.
"Do not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one."
B. Choose to have the favor of God rather than the fortune of the world
(Hebrews 11:26).
C. Seek to know the ways of God more than possess the blessings of God
vs. 13.
D. Refuse to live life without experiencing the presence of God
vs. 15.
F. Desire greatly to know and experience the glory of God
(vs. 18; John 11:40).
III. When will you need to know these truths?
A. When you are overwhelmed with life
(Psalms 61:2).
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
B. When you need a fortress to run into and a savior to deliver you.
And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer
(2 Samuel 22:1-2).
C. When you cannot stand fall on the rock.
Did you never read the scriptures the stone that the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner…And whosoever shall fall on this stone (rock) shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder
(Matthew 21:42-44).
