Choose Life and Live (Deuteronomy 30:15-20)!
I. Set before all of us exist two great destinies, one filled with good, the other full of evil.
A. God’s plan for you is filled with good things.
And the Lord God will bring thee into the land… and he will do thee good (vs. 5).
And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live (vs. 6).
And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee (vs. 7).
And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, & in the fruit of thy cattle, & in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers (vs. 7).
B. God’s plan is dependent upon obedience and unrivaled love for God vs. 16.
In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
II. The life that you are living today is the life that you have chosen. The question is this:
Have you chosen what God has chosen for you?
A. We eat the fruit of what we choose to say and how we choose to say it (Proverbs 18:21).
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
B. Our actions and our ways.
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings (Jeremiah 17:10).
C. Our ways. Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways (Pro. 3:31).
D. The fear of God .
For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD (Proverbs 1:29).
E. The things that please God (Isaiah 56:4).
III. God has already chosen for you, it remains that you must choose for yourself.
(Deuteronomy 30:19-20 and Joshua 24:15).
