Preparing for the Judgment Day
( Hebrews 9:27)
I. Why is the judgment of God necessary?
And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty (Exodus 34:5-7).
A. Every evil deed deserves an evil consequence.
There is always a pay day some day!
For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him
(Hebrews 2:2-3).
B. God’s character of justice & righteousness will not clear the guilty with out payment.
II. How a Christian should prepare for the judgment seat of Christ.
we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad
(2 Cor. 5:10) .
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire
(1 Cor.3:11-15).
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven
A. Do you bring glory to God in the home place?
1. Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25)
2. Wives submit to your own husbands as unto the Lord (Ephesians 5:22).
3. Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right (Ephesians 6:1).
4. And fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
B. Do you bring glory to God in the market place?
Servants, respectfully obey your earthly masters but always with an eye to obeying the real master, Christ. Don't just do what you have to do to get by, but work heartily, as Christ's servants doing what God wants you to do. And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you're really serving God. Good work will get you good pay from the Master, regardless of whether you are slave or free. Masters, it's the same with you. No abuse, please, and no threats. You and your servants are both under the same Master in heaven. He makes no distinction between you and them
(Ephesians 6:5-9 Message Bible).
C. Do you bring glory to God in the secret place?
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly
(Matthew 6:6).
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the All Mighty
(Psalms 91:1).
D. Do you bring glory to God in the Holy place?
Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen (Ephesians 3:21).
III. How to prepare to meet God
(Revelation 20:11-15)..
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire
(Revelation 20:11-15).
A. Realize God is holy we are sinful
(Isaiah 6:1-5)
I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.’"Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.
“All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags…
(Isaiah 64:6).
B. Make sure your name is in the book of life
(Ps. 69:28;.Luke 10:20;Rev. 13:8; Philip. 4:3).
“May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.”
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven
(Luke 10:20).
All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast— all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world
(Rev. 13:8).
help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
C. Trust Jesus. “He paid a debt he did not owe. I owed a debt I could not pay.
I needed someone to wash my sins away.”
Ps 130:3 says “If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?”
"Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.”
Romans 4:7-8
